THE STORY OF MR. TRAN VO HOAN AND NAM VIET
Describing Mr. Tran Vo Hoan, the founder of Nam Viet, as a serial entrepreneur would be an understatement. In the early 1990s, as Vietnam opened its doors to foreign trade and investment, Mr. Hoan launched his first business as a printing agent, catering to all things paper—from books and newspapers to paper bags. For a time, he even ventured into publishing, creating one of the era’s most popular music magazines.
Over the years, Mr. Hoan founded numerous businesses, but in 2001, he embarked on what would become his legacy: Nam Viet Packaging.
Recognizing the growing demand for alternatives to traditional paper and plastic packaging, he envisioned a future for metal packaging that prioritized innovation and technology. From its inception, Nam Viet was dedicated to offering cutting-edge packaging solutions that were ahead of their time.
Under Mr. Hoan’s leadership, Nam Viet underwent extraordinary growth. What started as a small local company with fewer than 30 employees evolved into a globally recognized brand in metal can packaging. Today, Nam Viet serves over 200 international and domestic clients, boasts a team of more than 400 professionals, and operates five state-of-the-art factories across Vietnam.
In 2012, during the crucial expansion of the Long Thanh factory, Mr. Hoan faced a personal battle—stage IV lung cancer. Yet, his unwavering determination saw him not only overcome the disease but also witness the immense success of the project. The Long Thanh factory became a cornerstone of Nam Viet’s success, placing the company among the top names in the industry.
Mr. Hoan continued to lead Nam Viet with vision and dedication until October 2022, when he passed away following a recurrence of cancer.
Today, Nam Viet remains a family-owned business, proudly led by the second generation, continuing Mr. Hoan’s legacy of innovation, resilience, and excellence as it achieves new milestones on the global stage.
